The Lancet Infectious Diseases
Welcome to the online submission and peer review system for The Lancet Infectious Diseases. This site enables authors to submit material online, reviewers to referee online, and editors to manage the peer-review process.

This website should be used for submissions to The Lancet Infectious Diseases only. To submit to another journal in the Lancet family of journals, please visit https://www.thelancet.com/for-authors.

The Lancet Infectious Diseases considers any original research contribution that advocates change in or illuminates infectious disease clinical practice and publishes interesting and informative reviews on any topic connected with infectious disease. Manuscripts must be solely the work of the author(s) stated, must not have been previously published elsewhere, and must not be under consideration by another journal. Because the readership covers a wide range of specialties, it is vital that articles should be written clearly, and should not assume a level of knowledge above that of, say, a reasonably well-read, recently qualified, doctor in training. The importance of a clear, accessible writing style cannot be stressed too highly. One way to find out if your article is understandable to those reading outside their immediate field of interest is to show the manuscript to colleagues in other specialties. If they find it difficult to follow, so will a good proportion of the readership. Wherever possible, diagrams, figures, and good quality photographs (colour or black and white) should be used to supplement and enhance the text. If you require further clarification, the journal's editorial staff will be pleased to help.

The Lancet Infectious Disease’s 2017 Journal Impact Factor of 25·148 (Journal Citation Reports®, Clarivate Analytics 2018) and its full suite of metrics are a reflection of the quality of the papers the journal publishes. We thank you—our authors and reviewers—for your contribution to the journal’s continued success
